FOCUS to hit your goal - The Grant Cardone theory

Hey good people!

How’re you? Are you okay? Today is Friday and as always, I get to reminisce on the things that have happened throughout the week, the articles I’ve read, the podcasts I’ve listened to, YouTube videos I’ve watched or the physical meetings I’ve had. Obviously, you know that with this our favorite newsletter, I document my journey building a global business on the internet, what I learn, what I listen to or watch, what I experience et cetra.

Today’s issue, which I plan on keeping very short by the way because am doing final touches on the YouTube kit before it goes live, has been inspired by a podcast I was watching earlier in the week by Sabrina Cardone and her guest, his father Grant Cardone. That podcast was utterly interesting. I’ll link it at the end of this newsletter make sure to check it out. But it was interesting because although Sabrina had those big discussions with his dad, Grant Cardone about real estate and business and how to build billion dollar empires, they also had fun talking relationships, morality in teenagers, the dad’s past life to even petty things like why men don’t use straws to drink their beer. Sabrina at just 15 years old came off so mature hosting that podcast and revealed that one of her major goals is to take her father’s real estate company, Cardone capital to $100BN in valuation. For context, it’s currently valued at $4BN.

Then 10 year old Sabrina Cardone delivering her speech at the 10X conference in Miami

Now let’s get to the juicy part, shall we? Sabrina asked his dad when he believes she can check off that goal and her dad said in about 20 years. Do you know what’s more intriguing? He advised her not to go to college, not waste those 4 years, learn everything she believes is in line with her goal, concentrate on building that and she’ll surely not only check off her goals but also become a very influential person in the world. Now we can obviously have the college Vs No college debate especially if you’re coming from the US, Canada, Europe and other developed nations around the world but we dare not if you’re from Africa. Because in Africa we know that college is the ultimate price. That which unlocks everything else in life including wealth from jobs and careers, happiness , good relationships with family, marriages etc all as a result of the wealth. Infact the entire system and opportunities are designed to appreciate that fact. You rarely see the Dj Khaled’s of this world grow in Africa, the Mark Zuckerbergs, Richard Bransons, Rihannas, Mr Beasts or several thousands of people out there who have used their talents and gifts to make a worthy career for themselves and not qualifications born out of college.

Whether you have the African vibe to college or the West’s, my point is , from Grant’s advice to Sabrina, I learnt that if someone is dead focused , they sure will build a goal so big and become influential in the world just like those in the paragraph above. Let’s look at those very examples for a second; Rihanna is worth $1.4BN right now but she started singing at 15 in Barbados then moved to America where she thought her music career would skyrocket, and it did. That’s focus and just like Grant Cardone was saying, understanding everything that’ll help you achieve your goal. Mr Beast who’s YouTube’s highest earner probably making over $5M per month, started creating for YouTube at the age of 12. Earlier into his career, he spent 1000 straight days studying what makes a good video, thumbnail, title et cetra. From his experience you clearly see the elements of focus and learning everything crucial to your goal, don’t you? I can go on and on.

So the message for this issue is FOCUS and most importantly learn everything that’s crucial to your goal then keep getting 1% better at every next stage.
