Leave your environment
Hey friend !
I hope you had such an amazing week . If you didn’t , it’s alright . Let’s hope for a better next week but most importantly strive to make it better .
In this week’s issue , I bring you the JAPA plan 😁. Japa is a loose word in the Nigerian dialect, Yoruba to mean “Move to overseas” . Nigerians use it a lot to insinuate that they’re leaving to a place with more opportunities, better services , favorable policies etc . Now I don’t particularly insinuate that you should leave your country. What I mean is that it’s important to be on the look out of where better opportunities or more favorable policies are for what you’re trying to achieve in your life .
What I’ve learnt paying close attention to successful companies ,brands, personalities, businesses etc is that they start out with a plan then go exactly to where it can best be achieved . That could include moving to where there’s affordable labor , raw materials , skilled workforce etc . For instance as you may or may not already know , Apple the biggest Tech company in the world & US based actually manufactures the Apple products mainly from China. We all know that Apple is a US company but the irony is it doesn’t manufacture your favorite iPhone or apple product in the US . Instead it does in China majorly with India & Vietnam having a smaller share too . Why ? Because of affordable raw materials , affordable costs of labor, more skilled labor etc .
Now I can cross cut and tell you about Rihanna who migrated to the US at the age of 16 so she can fulfill her music career. One of her first songs , Pon De Replay sold over 3M copies and was triple certified platinum. Not to sound too technical, those are milestones in the music industry. Just like there’s 1000 subscribers , 1M views , 1st million dollar etc for YouTubers . What do we learn from Rihanna ? She figured that her career in music would best be executed in the US so she had to move from Barbados . By the way , to date , Rihanna doesn’t have a US citizenship . But she’s the richest female artist . You get my point ?
My point is , your environment could be breeding complacency for you . And complacency is an enemy of growth . It may not mean you leaving your country , it may mean you just moving to the next city , next town , next neighborhood etc .
So my message today is MOVE .
