Do you have mentors ? You should

I hope you had an amazing week . If you didn’t , it’s alright. Step into the new week with a smile and hope but most importantly strive to make it a better one .

Let me ask , do you have mentors ? Do you have people you look to ? People who inspire you or from whom you learn ? My recommendation is have one or more . The beauty about mentors in our generation is that they may not even be in your locality. They may be what we call “virtual mentors” . You meet online , on a webinar or even on social media . The easiest places to get or follow mentors is obviously social media. YouTube , Instagram , Facebook etc are surely great places to get mentors because you get mentorship without paying a cent 🤓

What’s the importance of having mentors ?

In life , there’re 2 best ways you can learn ; 1.Going for formal learning e.g going to a training school like college or school to learn a particular course or subject etc . 2. Learning from mentors. I always route for this option because learning from a mentor saves you both time and money and most importantly it let’s you to learn from someone who’s pursuing what you want in your life or someone who’s experienced it .

The purpose of this letter was for me to share some of my top 5 mentors , just in case you don’t have any as yet , you can plug into mine for the meantime or add more mentors to your list and obviously as always ,for you to let me in on yours as well in your replies to this email .

I always cluster my mentors in 5 ;

The people who help me to keep my boat rocking are ;

• Life in General mentors

  Oprah Winfrey - Particularly how she managed to dominate a formerly white dominated industry as a black woman . There’s so much to learn from Oprah . She was formerly a news anchor , always emotional listening at the stories from her guests. Her producer said she was too emotional for that role . She later learnt that she can do well with talk show host roles.Thus birthing the Oprah Winfrey Show that you must have grown up watching and admiring too. On her show , she has hosted presidents ,musicians , actors , entrepreneurs and just about every notable person you can think of . Without a doubt, you can’t talk about talk shows and Oprah’s name is not in the top 2 in the world . • Mentors on business and investment-Because am growing a digital career or online business, my mentors have since switched to those who make money online or those who make it online and re invest in physical businesses. So my list is topped by a mix of those . The beauty is that am doing more or less the same content for my main YouTube channel so you can expect that am going in same direction too .

  a) KSI - if you see my what’s app statuses you must know that I’ve great admiration for KSI . He’s not just built an online following of more than 50M combined followers and subscribers from around the world on her social media platforms but is also a key leader of the “Sidemen” a UK based content creation group . From founding the group back in 2013 , to regrouping the whole team in one apartment so that they can create content and make money to later become financially free etc . Today , each of them is worth multiple 8 figures . 8 figures means $10M and above . He later invested into a mobile App and now has invested into a beverage business called Prime with his business partner Logan Paul which racks in over $250M per year . Sounds cool , right ?

  b) Jordan Welch is also another YouTuber/ content creator who came from a drug addict background to now an Internet millionaire with e-commerce , affiliate marketing & YouTube . I don’t want to pre empt on him because I’ve to write an entire script about him for a documentary. • On Faith

  Bishop David Oyedepo . It’s hard not to resonate with him if you only give him your ears for 5 minutes. Only 5 minutes folks . Bishop Oyedepo is the founder of Living Faith international, a church started in Lagos , Nigeria . The church has since grown under his stewardship to 1000’s of branches across the world . The church headquarters at Caananland in Ota , Ogun State is such an art to look at . Seated on 5000 acres of land , it houses a 50,000 seater capacity church; Faith Terbanacle , affordable housing apartments, a university, halls of residence for the university, a fueling station , a guest house , a supermarket and lots more. Why am I concerned about these things ? From what I saw about his vision, it’s not just about him like most pastors have made it seem in church today ; you see a pastor driving the best cars while the people in the congregation can’t even afford a meal . • On leadership-

  President Paul Kagame , President of Rwanda - Afew people may have a different picture about PK ( like he’s commonly referred to in Rwanda) but when you visit Rwanda you get a feeling of a country that’s being led well . His country was under a genocide until 1994 but you’re amazed at what they’re achieving for themselves. Today , Rwanda has the cleanest streets you can think of . Infact Rwanda is the cleanest and safest country in Africa . Did it happen by mistake? No . There’s a leader behind that . Rwanda , different from other stories in Africa is not a corrupt country . If the president finds fault about you , the price to pay is heavy .

As you must have noticed , I’ve not met any of my mentors and obviously none of them even knows that I exist . Where do I meet them ? On social media like YouTube . If anything is posted about any of them , I’ll be among the first people to watch it .
