Twitter is finally paying you to Tweet

Hi friend !

I hope you’ve had yet an amazing week . On Tuesday we woke up to Tweets from some people getting paid by Twitter now turned X and for some reason you must have had the “what just happened” question seeing these payout screenshots flying up and about . For context of this issue , we’ll stick to the “Twitter” name . Somehow X sounds weird for someone who was so used to Twitter 🤦🏽‍♂️🤦🏽‍♂️

Since our newsletter is about how to make side income , which I call a side hustle ( I noticed as Africans when we hear the word “side hustle” we link it to suffering 🤦🏽‍♂️. A side hustle is simply a side business , a side income plan or a plan B) , I thought I’d check in as well on this twitter income thing & possibly share what my plan is , may be you can copy & paste it for yourself as well .

PART ONE :- THE DETAIL - if you don’t like details , you can skip this to part 2 but it’s important you know these as you jump into how to make money from Twitter.

1.How’s Twitter getting money to pay you ?

Businesses , brands , companies etc place ads on the platform, sending in several thousands if not millions of dollars every month into Twitter coffers . Let’s say you own a Cosmetics brand & you place a 5 days ad of $10 each on Twitter so that your business can get more visibility & thereby get more customers, that $50 will go to Twitter coffers . In the end , your ad will display in the comment section of lets say of my Tweets and as of when and how people in my comment section click on your ad , you’ll get customers .

So that means Twitter used my Tweet to reach out to my audience to help you increase your audience. Does that make sense ? Which means twitter is supposed to pay me for that , right ? YES that’s where Ad revenue sharing comes in . Forget not that there’s millions of businesses posting ads just like you are . So that’s a huge sum of money , right ? This principle applies to just about any social media platform you’ll wish to make money from be it YouTube , Tiktok, Facebook etc .

So what’s THE Eligibility CRITERIA for you to get paid by twitter

1. 5 million impressions in the last 3 months . Pro tips :- a) content that raises people’s emotions always gets the most attention & engagement & b) Twitter threads perform better than single tweets.

2. Subscribe to Twitter blue - which is $8 & $11 per month for desktop and Mobile respectively.

3. Have atleast 500 followers.

For the sake of exhausting the details , according to several blogs , Twitter is paying $8.5 for every 1 million impressions. I believe with time we’ll know the exact numbers but let’s work with that in the meantime. I also believe different niches or topics have different pays .

My general recommendations

1. Niche down . This means picking one topic or sub topic and keep creating content about that - these are the best and most demanded for niches ; Travel , finance & investment, technology, relationships, health & healthy living.

2. From the onset , think critically about additional ways you’ll monetize your audience. What I’ve learnt is that you can make a $1000 per month with 1000 followers or subscribers and another person with the same audience will struggle to make $100 a month . Why ? It’s a difference in how recommendations 1 & 2 are executed . Some additional ways of monetizing your audience are ; creating & selling your digital products , sharing affiliate links with your audience, sponsorship deals , consultancies , creating your own subscription based products on your website or Mobile app etc .

AND NOW FINALLY TO MY PLAN ON HOW I’LL MAKE MONEY FROM TWITTER (X)

1. Niche :- since am already a YouTuber and study a lot of content about YouTubers , I’ll be posting content about YouTubers , how they’ve made it to where they are , what we learn from them etc

2. I’ll create a faceless Twitter account for this . The beauty with being faceless is that it gives you the power to go out there and create. People won’t subscribe or watch your videos depending on how you look , talk etc . I mean no one has an idea who you are . I usually recommend faceless YouTube channels, other social media like Twitter, Instagram theme pages etc for that very purpose.. it lets you to go out & create and not have the fear of being judged .

3. And because am talking about YouTubers , I’ll have a link to a course in the bio for anyone who likes to learn YouTube as a business . An affiliate course for that matter . That means I’ll be able to make money off that as well even way before twitter money comes in .
